DXRacer Racing Series – Editor’s Pick
For more information, check out our full guide on the Best DXRacer Gaming Chairs
The DXRacer Racing Series chair is a gaming chair for people who like the look and style of DXRacer but want something more budget than the main DXRacer line.
The Racing Series chair is upholstered with PU leather instead of the vinyl used in other DXRacer products, and is made with high density mold shaping foam. The chair comes with two support pillows for the lumbar and neck areas respectively that are made with the same foam as the rest of the chair. This chair also features a nylon base that is cheaper but less durable than aluminum.
As a consequence of being less solid than a standard DXRacer chair, the Racing Series only has a 200 pound weight capacity and is only suitable for people up to 6’0” tall. If you are bigger or taller and want to purchase a DXRacer chair, this chair will not be able to meet your needs.
Despite the compromises made to make the Racing Series more affordable, the build quality is still solid and the chair will remain relatively comfortable for years after purchase. As a budget chair, the DXRacer Racing Series chair offers enough value to make it a worthwhile investment and the lifetime warranty on the frame of the chair helps to reinforce that value.
The DXRacer Racing Series chair features 3D adjustable armrests and a 90 to 135-degree reclining range. The Racing Series chair also features a tilt rocking feature that allows you to rock 15 degrees back and forth.
The Racing Series chair is available in all of the colors that are expected of a DXRacer chair, including white, red, blue, grey, and black.
- DXRacer chair at a budget price with only a small hit to quality.
- Lifetime limited warranty.
- Not accommodating for bigger or taller people.
- Relatively small reclining range.
GTRACING Gaming Chair – Best Budget Gaming Chair Under $300
For more information, check out our full GTRACING Gaming Chairs Review
Despite being one of the cheapest chairs on this list, the GTRacing gaming chair has surprising value and durability when compared to other gaming chairs under $300.
The GTRacing gaming chair has an impressive 300-pound weight capacity, and has a very sturdy build quality, especially for such a low price. The chair is upholstered with standard PU leather and has lumbar and neck support in the form of foam pillows.
The foam used in the GTRacing gaming chair is durable, but as a result, it can sometimes feel a bit too thick. In addition, the racing-style seat can begin to feel cramped after a while because of the large “wings” on the sides of the chair. The chair is still comfortable, but its poor breathability may begin to irritate you near the end of a long gaming session.
The armrests are 2D adjustable, but they are a little sensitive and you may end up unintentionally adjusting them by putting too much weight on them. The backrest has a reclining range of 90 to 170 degrees, which is very wide for a budget chair. The chair also includes a rocking function, which is nice to have but not exactly out of the ordinary for a budget chair.
The adjustability isn’t anything special, but the GTRacing gaming chair should be able to comfortably accommodate most people out there.
Unfortunately, the chair only comes with a 1-year limited warranty, which means if your chair does give you any issues after that you’ll have to pay to repair it.
- Good build quality, especially for a chair this cheap.
- Wide reclining range.
- 300-pound weight capacity.
- Slightly uncomfortable during long sessions.
- Substandard warranty.
AKRacing Core Series EX – Best Fabric Gaming Chair Under $300
For more information, check out our AKRacing Gaming Chairs Guide
The AKRacing Core Series EX gaming chair is a budget fabric gaming chair with all of the functionality of its competitors.
The AKRacing Core Series EX chair is upholstered with %100 polyester fabric which is more breathable and resistant to abrasion than PU leather. You may also find fabric more comfortable than PU leather, but this is more of a question of preference than anything else.
The seat, backrest, and both the lumbar support and headrest pillows are padded with 100% cold-cured foam. The base of the chair is constructed with aluminum, and the frame is made out of durable steel. The overall build quality of the Core Series EX chair is good due to the high-quality materials used in the chair and it will likely last for many years. If the chair does give out early, AKRacing offers a 5/10 year warranty.
The AKRacing Core Series EX chair has a weight capacity of 330 pounds and can comfortably accommodate heights from 5’3” to 6’3”. However, the seat is only 15.5 inches wide, so the chair is more suitable for taller people than wider people.
The AKRacing Core Series EX chair features 3D armrest adjustability, chair tilt adjustment from 3-18 degrees, and full 180-degree reclining. The chair tilt function can be locked, but only at the neutral position: there is no tilt angle lock here.
If you’re in the market for a fabric gaming chair because of comfort, you won’t be disappointed by the Core Series EX chair. Finding a chair of this price with an equal amount of adjustability would be difficult.
- Upholstered with comfortable and durable polyester fabric.
- Great value for the price due to the high amount of adjustability and good build quality.
- Accommodates heights up to 6’3”
- 5/10 year warranty.
- A narrow seat that is not suitable for bigger individuals.

RESPAWN RSP-900 – Best Recliner Gaming Chair Under $300
For more information, check out our full RESPAWN Gaming Chairs Guide
The Respawn RSP-900 is a gaming recliner built for relaxation while gaming over anything else.
The Respawn RSP-900 chair is built with bonded leather, a mixture of real and synthetic leather. The surface of the RSP-900 is soft and stain-resistant but vulnerable to small tears and abrasion after heavy use. The chair can support up to 275 pounds and will hold up for quite a while if used as intended.
The chair features a footrest that is continuous with the chair but controlled independently from the backrest. The chair also features a cupholder and side pouch on the left arm. The side pouch is useful for storing controllers and other gaming accessories.
Both the backrest and the footrest feature segmented padding for comfort, and the backrest can recline back to 135 degrees at the furthest. The chair comes with a headrest pillow but lacks a lumbar support pillow.
The RSP-900 has a lot of features packed in for a chair under $300 but isn’t very ergonomic in exchange. The lack of armrest adjustability, height adjustability, and substantial lower back support makes the RSP-900 chair not viable for spending extended periods of time in. Also, while the build quality is good, the chair is not built to be sat in all day, and doing so will wear the chair down quicker than intended.
If you’re looking for a chair to replace your “main chair”, the RSP-900 might not be a good fit, but if you’re looking for a comfortable chair to relax and play console games in, the Respawn RSP-900 will give you a lot of value.
- The soft surface, segmented padding, and footrest make this chair great for relaxation.
- Cupholder and side pouch for storing gaming equipment.
- Not built to be sat in for large amounts of time.
- Not ergonomic enough to be your main office chair

X Rocker Pro Series H3 – Best Console Gaming Chair Under $300
For more information, check out our full X Rocker Gaming Chair Guide
The X Rocker Pro Series H3 is a gaming chair with a built-in sound system that sits low to the ground specifically for the purpose of console gaming.
The Pro Series H3 is upholstered with vinyl, which is comfortable and easy to clean. This chair also features built-in lumbar and neck support, but they are unadjustable. The chair sits upon a curved base that allows the user to rock back and forth while gaming.
This chair has a weight capacity of 275 pounds, and is tall enough to support heights up to about 6’1”. The build quality of the X Rocker Pro Series H3 is solid, and there are no weak points in the design that would prove to be an issue later down the line.
The chair has four built-in speakers, four-inch subwoofers, and vibration motors that sync with your audio. The sound quality is good, and the bass level is adjustable through a control panel on the side of the chair. The sound ports on the chair are outdated, however, and require a converter cable to be compatible with consoles that use HDMI.
The armrests here can be moved up and out of the way, but other than that are non adjustable. The chair itself can be folded and is compact enough to bring wherever you wish with little hassle. Because the chair doesn’t have a traditional base, you can’t swivel the chair and there is no height adjustment to speak of; the chair can only sit at floor level.
The Pro Series H3 doesn’t have much use other than console gaming, but it offers a lot of functionality in that department. If you’re looking for a comfortable and immersive console gaming chair at a budget, the X Rocker Pro Series H3 is a good buy.
- Comfortable design for console gaming.
- Immersive built-in sound system.
- Compact and easy to store and transport.
- Not height adjustable
- Needs audio to HDMI converter to work with current generation consoles.
E-Win Champion Series – Best for Tall People
The E-Win Champion Series chair is a gaming chair with a tall backrest that is accomodating of tall people but not much else.
The chair is upholstered with stain-resistant PU leather and E-Win’s own custom high-density foam. The headrest and lumbar support pillow are made of the same custom foam. The frame of the chair is made with 1.5mm thick steel and its weight capacity is 300 pounds.
Despite the materials used in the chair, the build quality isn’t all that great, with some reports of the chair giving in after only 2 years. Thankfully, the chair comes with a warranty which includes a 10-year warranty on the frame, so you don’t have to worry too much about having to buy a whole new chair.
The armrests are 3D adjustable, and the backrest can recline from 85-155 degrees. Aside from height adjustability, other functions like tilt and rocking are absent here.
The E-Win Champion Series chair is at least comfortable, with armrests and foam that are soft but breathable.
The main selling point of the E-Win Champion Series chair is the tall backrest, which is significantly larger than most other chairs at this price. This chair can easily accommodate individuals up to 6’3” tall, but the sides of the chair will be a problem if you have a bigger build.
- Accommodating for tall individuals.
- Comfortable design
- Weaker build quality than contemporaries.
- Missing some functionality
RESPAWN RSP-200 – Best Mesh Gaming Chair Under $300
The RESPAWN RSP-200 gaming chair features an innovative design combining stylish PU-leather upholstery, that you would expect from a normal racing style gaming chair, with a mesh back to keep you cool during intense gaming sessions.
The Respawn RSP-200 is a mesh gaming chair that offers the breathability of mesh at an affordable price.
The seat of the Respawn RSP-200 is upholstered with bonded leather, while the backrest is constructed with mesh. The chair has a weight capacity of 275 pounds and isn’t accomodating to those with wider builds due to the narrow seat.
Overall, the build quality of the Respawn RSP-200 is good and the chair is fairly durable. The RSP-200’s seat is firm yet cushioned, and the base is sturdy. The only issues with the build quality arise if you have a bigger build, as putting too much weight on the backrest will displace the mesh after a while.
If the chair is suitable for your body shape, the mesh backrest will offer decent back support as well as good breathability. For a chair under $300, a mesh backrest certainly adds a good amount of value.
The chair comes with a detachable headrest pillow and the lumbar support is located inside of the chair. The lumbar support is adjustable, but there is not a mechanism to keep it in place and it ends up just falling back to its original position anyway. Because of this, the RSP-200 does not offer solid enough back support for people of every size.
The adjustability of the RSP-200 is a bit lackluster, with 2D adjustable armrests and a backrest that only reclines to 130 degrees.
- The breathable mesh backrest makes the chair valuable for its price.
- Limited lifetime warranty.
- Not suitable for bigger and wider builds.
- Substandard adjustability.

X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 – Best With Bluetooth Speakers
The X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 is a flagship pedestal style gaming chair that features high-quality faux leather upholstery and Bluetooth 2.0 speakers, making it a great choice for lounging, playing video games, and watching movies.
The X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 chair is very similar to the X Rocker Pro Series H3, with some key differences including Bluetooth support.
Just like the Pro Series H3, the X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 is a console gaming chair upholstered with vinyl. Unlike the Pro Series H3, this chair sits on a pedestal instead of the ground. The X Rocker Pro Series 2.1’s base gives it a little bit more height and maneuverability than the Pro Series H3, which serves to make the chair a bit more ergonomic.
Just like the Pro Series H3, this chair also has a 275-pound weight capacity and can seat heights up to 6’1”. This chair and its armrests are also foldable.
The X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 chair features 2 speakers instead of four, with the same 4-inch subwoofer in the back. Although this means that the Pro Series 2.1 is less immersive, the trade-off here is wireless audio capabilities.
The X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 features a built-in wireless receiver, which allows the user to wirelessly transmit audio to the chair using any Bluetooth compatible device. Whether this function is worth missing out on two extra speakers is subjective.
The X Rocker Pro Series 2.1 has the same limitations as its counterpart, these being that it is basically only useful for console gaming and an outdated audio port.
- Comfortable design for console gaming.
- Immersive built-in sound system with Bluetooth support.
- Compact and easy to store and transport.
- Needs audio to HDMI converter to work with current generation consoles.
- Only two built-in speakers.

STAPLES Hyken – Best Ergonomic Office Chair Under $300
The Staples Hyken is a budget mesh office chair that caters more to ergonomics than to comfort.
The Staples Hyken is made with fabric, PU leather, and mesh, and has a 275-pound weight capacity. The build quality is good, but the armrests are hard plastic and it is advised to use arm pads to avoid pain due to repeated use.
The headrest and lumbar support are both adjustable, which is good for an office chair of this price. The armrests are only height-adjustable, which is disappointing but passable. The headrest can only be adjusted so far, however, and if you’re around 5’10” or taller it will poke into your shoulders, which is something to look out for.
Since it is not technically not a gaming chair, the Staples Hyken is lacking a backrest reclining feature, but it does have some tilt angle adjustment.
For a budget chair, the Staples Hyken is very ergonomic and is a good choice for those looking for something to work in. Although it’s not perfect, you will have a hard time finding an office chair of this quality at this price range.
- Great value for the price.
- Ergonomic and breathable
- Armrests are only height adjustable.
- No reclining of any kind.
Ficmax Massage Gaming Chair – Best for Back Pain
The Ficmax Massage Gaming Chair is a durable budget gaming chair with a good build quality and an over abundance of functionality.
The Ficmax Massage Gaming Chair is upholstered with PU leather and made with 4.8-inch thick high-density memory foam with a weight capacity of 300 pounds. The build quality is good and the chair is able to stay comfortable and functional for years after purchase.
Because of the high density foam and PU leather, the chair can sometimes feel stuffy for bigger people or after extended use. If you are worried about breathability or live in a hotter climate, this chair may not be for you.
The Ficmax Massage Gaming Chair packs a lot of features into such a low price point, including 180-degree reclining, an extendable footrest, a massage feature with 2 intensities, and a rocking function. For a chair of this price, even if the massage feature is too weak to be useful, there is still a lot of value here.
If you struggle with back pain, the reclining combined with the foot rest will give you some much-needed relief during gaming sessions. Although, if you are 6’0” or taller, the footrest will sit too low on your legs to be useful. The chair is still usable without the footrest, however.
The only disappointment here is the armrests, which are only 2D adjustable. The plethora of other features more than make up for this though.
- Great build quality for the cost.
- Lots of features packed into a budget chair.
- Breathability may be an issue for some.
How to Choose the Best Gaming Chair Under $300 – Buying Guide
If you’re shopping for a budget chair, you can’t expect industry-leading ergonomics, but there are still decent options out there and you shouldn’t have to settle for a below-average chair. You should at least purchase a chair with good lumbar support. Most gaming chairs at this price range feature removable lumbar support pillows, and since they are all of similar quality, this is usually up to preference.
At this price range, you won’t be getting anything too fancy in regards to ergonomics, but other things you should look out for are good quality casters and a full 360 swivel range.
Build Quality + Materials
Buying a cheaper chair means you will have to deal with cheaper materials, but you still want to buy something that will give you a good return on investment.
For under $300, you want a chair that can last at least 2 years before giving you any major problems, and hopefully, you get a warranty that can cover those problems. As far as materials go, the most important part is the foam. As long as you get a chair with firm foam that can keep a nice form even after repeated use, you’re in good shape. Other than that, look for chairs with aluminum bases and steel frames if you care about longevity.
Type of Chair
For gaming chairs, you usually have two types: computer chairs and console chairs. A computer chair would be what most people think of as a “normal” gaming chair. These usually are height adjustable and built with ergonomics in mind. If you’re looking for a chair to sit in for long periods while using the computer, this type of chair is for you.
Console chairs usually sit lower to the ground and are built for comfort over ergonomics. This is the type of chair you buy if you only need a chair to sit in for a few hours while you relax with a console gaming session.
While you could use a computer chair for console gaming and vice versa, the chairs on this list are cheap enough to where you could buy one for each purpose if you desired.
Comfort (seat comfort, back comfort, arm comfort)
Comfort is important for any chair, but it is especially important to look at the comfort of a budget chair as sometimes cheaper materials can compromise comfort. The one thing you want to be sure of is the firmness of the seat. If the foam in a seat is too flimsy or low quality, it will lose its shape after a while and lose its cushiness.
Another thing to look out for is the armrest quality. Some budget chairs have cheap plastic armrests that are hard and uncomfortable to use for long periods of time.
As far as adjustability goes, for budget gaming chairs you usually want to look for armrest adjustment and reclining range. The best you’ll find for a chair of this price is 3D armrest adjustment, which means you can adjust the height, depth, and horizontal angle.
When it comes to reclining range, even higher-end chairs don’t always have full 180-degree reclining; it’s something you can get at any price range if you prefer. At the end of the day, adjustability won’t be as bountiful for budget chairs, but you don’t have to settle if it’s something you want.
