Should You Buy XQC’s Chair?

You want to stream in the same chair as XQC, but you don’t yet have his millions of subscribers nor the kind of income a popular streamer earns. Is the Herman Miller Embody the right chair for you? Allow me to help you decide with some pros and cons.

Let’s get the bad stuff out of the way first. I’ll be perfectly frank, the Embody is insanely expensive. Even among Herman Miller chairs, the Embody costs a lot. For comparison’s sake, the Aeron starts at around $995 and the Cosm is $1,095. You’re paying upwards of $600 more for the Embody.

However, that money should take you quite far. The Embody is made of durable, appealing materials from top to bottom, including the premium upholstery fabric, the five-star aluminum base, and the four-layered seating. That seating will keep your body temperature comfortable so even if you get warm while you’re in the thick of a tough game, you won’t overheat. 

Whether you want to use the Embody for studying, working, gaming, or relaxing, between the BackFit backrest and built-in spine and ribs, your back will be cradled the entire time. The Pixelated Support system reduces pressure and redistributes your weight, which also makes sitting very comfortable. Oh, and you’ll also feel like you’re floating thanks to the Pixelated Support, which is a cool feature!

I will say that outside of the BackFit backrest, the Embody is kind of lacking in adjustments. You can’t do much with the armrests at all. Beyond raising and lowering the seat height, there aren’t a whole lot of other adjustments to be found. This can definitely be disappointing to some users considering the high price of the Embody.  

Alternatives to XQC’s Chair

Listen, if $1,600 is too much for you to spend, that’s perfectly fair. Even with the long warranty and free shipping, that’s a lot of money to justify paying for a chair. That’s why I want to present a few alternatives that look like XQC’s chair but at a fraction of the price. 

Secretlab Titan SoftWeave

I’ll start with one of my favorites, the Secretlab Titan. Its SoftWeave fabric is comparable to the Sync or Medley upholstery featured in the Herman Miller Embody. You can’t choose from as many colors, but considering that the Titan costs $429, I think that’s a small sacrifice to make, don’t you?

Secretlab chairs come with a warranty that lasts five years, which is still great. Their refund and return policy is for 49 days, not 30 days like Herman Miller’s. As for the chair itself, the Titan features an aluminum wheelbase, multi-functional tilting, a Class 4 hydraulic piston, two tilt levers, five XL caster wheels made of PU plastic, and two seat covers. Let me remind you that the Embody cannot tilt.

If you’re worried about staying cool while gaming, the Titan includes a headrest pillow with a layer of cooling gel. The second pillow at your back might not have a built-in spine, but it will still support lumbar health. So too will the adjustable lumbar support knob that’s akin to the BackFit backrest. 

You won’t miss the Embody’s armrests once you play around with the Titan’s 4D armrests, which can move in just about any way imaginable. You can even shift the armrests at left or right angles!

Steelcase Leap

At first glance, you might mistake the Steelcase Leap for the Embody. Streaming in this chair will definitely win you brownie points with your audience. The price for the Leap is far more palatable at $978. 

The contoured backrest of the Leap has LiveBack technology to keep the natural curvature of your spine supported no matter how subtle your motions. You can also adjust the lower back firmness and the lumbar height for customized back control. 

The Leap features a cushion with air pockets throughout that move with your body. The edges of the seat are flexible and intended to reduce thigh pressure points, sort of like the Pixelated Support system of the Embody. You can also adjust the seat depth via a Natural Glide adjustment, something the Embody cannot do. 

If you want more advanced armrest adjustments, you’ve got ‘em. The Leap’s arms can shift from one side to another, go backward to forwards and vice-versa, pivot out and in, and lower and raise. The chair also features polyester Buzz2 fabric, carpet casters, and a manufacturer’s warranty that lasts 12 years. 

Herman Miller Sayl

I told you before that not all Herman Miller chairs are astronomically expensive, and that’s true of the Sayl too. For $615, you get a chair that’s 90 percent recyclable and has an elastomer 3D intelligent unframed back for airflow, ventilation, and support. The elastomer material moves with your back and body. You can also set the tension and tilt of your chair for less pressure while you sit.

The foam seat cushion keeps your lower half comfy while the steel chair frame can hold up to everyday usage. Herman Miller includes their PostureFit 3D suspension back to maintain the S-shaped curve of your spine and give your posture a boost. For an additional fee, you can add further lumbar support. 

The 2.5-inch carpet casters, a standard for Herman Miller, are back for the Sayl. You can select the suspension and frame base colors, includingblack with slate grey, studio white with fog, or all black. You also have your pick of upholstery colors.

Conclusion
