Should You Buy Ranboo’s Chair?

Beginning with the good stuff, the DXRacer Unicorn is a well-built gaming chair. It features a five-star base made of heavy-duty steel, thick yet moveable caster wheels, high-density molding foam, and PU leather.
Admittedly, PU leather doesn’t look or feel as good as real leather, but in this case, that’s okay. The Unicorn is a very colorful chair, so no one is expecting it to look realistic. Besides, the PU leather is stain-proof, and it also keeps the price of Ranboo’s chair reasonable.
To remind you, the DXRacer Unicorn costs $400. Some of you reading this might have sticker shock at that cost, but it’s about average for a high-quality gaming chair.
If you buy a chair that’s $100 or less, it’s often made of very cheap materials. Chairs that are $500 to $700 or higher are hard to justify for many buyers, and that’s even truer of chairs like those from Herman Miller that are well over $1,000.
Plus, part of that price includes your lifetime warranty on the chair frame, the two-year warranty on the accessories, and the included free lumbar pillow and headrest pillow. This chair also has a range of adjustments–such as a high degree of recline and 3D armrests–that help justify the price.
Now onto what’s not so great about the DXRacer Unicorn. For one, the ergonomics are practically non-existent. Yes, you can recline the chair and you get a lumbar support pillow, but compared to the innovations in chair ergonomics on the market, this is scant.
Ergonomics aren’t really something that someone Ranboo’s age cares about considering he’s not even 18 yet. Young gamers also won’t care much, but if you’re someone who’s prone to aches and pains and you’re looking for a new chair, maybe the DXRacer Unicorn isn’t it.
The colors might also be polarizing to some people. The Unicorn features all the colors of that mythical animal as well as a unicorn face on the chair. It’s cutesy and fun and there’s no getting around that.
Of course, DXRacer has plenty of less colorful chairs if that’s more your thing.

The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 Series is the latest in the line of awesome gaming chairs from this manufacturer. If you’re into the colors of the DXRacer Unicorn, the new Titan has many skin options, including Secretlab Signatures, Esports Editions, and Special Editions.
You can select from three chair sizes, small (up to 200 pounds), regular (up to 220 pounds), and XL (up to 395 pounds), the same of which cannot be said for the DXRacer Unicorn.
The Titan is available in Secretlab NEO Hybrid Leatherette, which is like PU leather (but higher quality), but you can also purchase the Titan in real Napa leather should you want to.
The pebble seat base is for your comfort, as is the four-way L-ADAPT lumbar support system. Ranboo’s chair has no comparable feature. The armrests of the Titan are 4D instead of 3D so they move even more.
If you like the idea of a head pillow, the Titan features one with memory foam and magnetic features. It sticks to the chair automatically, no need to secure it with straps or Velcro!
The Titan also features a layer of foam, but theirs is cold-cured and patented for the ideal mix of firmness and softness.
These upgraded features do come at a price. The Secretlab Titan starts at $450. If you want Napa leather for your chair, then it costs $900.
GTRACING Gaming Chair
The GTRacing gaming chair offers everything you would expect from a high-end racing style gaming chair at less than half the price of the other premier brands.
For the chair shopper on a budget, the GTRacing gaming chair costs less than $170. It has a built-in headrest just like the DXRacer Unicorn. You also get the headrest pillow and the lumbar support pillow for the backrest.
PU leather in multiple colors coats the exterior of this chair. It’s mostly black with accent hues such as red, green, or purple. There’s also a pink and white version of the GTRacing gaming chair that’s about as close of a color match to the DXRacer Unicorn as you can get.
The casters of the GTRacing gaming chair are made of nylon rather than metal, but they are connected to a five-star base. The chair can swivel 360 degrees and recline between 90 and 170 degrees; it also rocks. The DXRacer Unicorn is missing some of these features.
Adjust the seat height or the armrests of the GTRacing gaming chair, but do keep in mind that the arms aren’t 3D, so that’s an advantage the DXRacer Unicorn has.
AKRacing Core EX
The AKRacing is one of the best fabric gaming chairs offering excellent comfort and premium materials, while still keeping the price relatively low.
The third DXRacer Unicorn alternative I want to discuss is the AKRacing Core EX. It’s a close match to the DXRacer Unicorn, possibly the closest of the three, but less colorful.
Admittedly, this one doesn’t look much like Ranboo’s chair, but for less than $350, it’s a good budget pick.
The steel frame of the Core EX is welded by hand and then finished with anti-corrosive powder-coated paint and reinforcement belts. The frame is designed to last for a decade.
The cold-cured foam might be a step above what you’d find in the DXRacer Unicorn. Also, the AKRacing EX features a fabric upholstery instead of PU Leather, so for those of you who want a softer, more breathable material, the AKRacing chair might be a better fit.
The armrests of the Core EX are 3D for rotating them to the side, pushing them back and forth, or moving them down or up. The chair can also rock, and its Class 4 lift allows you to adjust the height of the seat easily. There is no tilt angle lock.
