You’d love to have just a sliver of the success Jacksepticeye has experienced, and you figure that starts with owning a similar gaming chair. Which gaming chair is his fave?

Between his vlogs, comedy skits, and let’s plays, Jacksepticeye’s channel grew even more, and by 2014, he had 57 million views and 800,000 subscribers. A year later, in 2015, he had amassed 3.2 million subs and one billion channel views.

McLoughlin has been featured in the Disney XD program D I XP, he’s a playable character in a game called The Escapists 2, he’s toured across Europe and the United States, and he’s signed to a Disney Digital Network deal as an exclusive Twitch content producer. 

As of January 2021, Jacksepticeye has 13.7 billion channel views and 26.3 million subscribers. That makes him the top Irish YouTuber.

How Much Does Jacksepticeye’s Chair Cost?

Jacksepticeye is a massively successful YouTuber, so it shouldn’t surprise you much that his gaming chair is anything but cheap. The Embody is $1,640 if you shop through the Herman Miller website. 

You don’t pay anything extra for changing the colors of the frame, base, or upholstery, but switching out the casters isn’t free. For 2.5-inch casters that can roll on carpet and hard flooring, it’s $40 extra. Adding translucent wheels is $80.

SmartFurniture’s prices aren’t too much different. The Embody is available on their site for $1,495 with free shipping. Over on Hive Modern, the chair costs $1,295.

Although the Herman Miller website is the most expensive place to order the Embody, that’s the only site where you can get free swatches as well as the Herman Miller warranty. Shipping for the chair is free and you can send it back within 30 days hassle-free should you want to. 

Should You Buy Jacksepticeye’s Chair?

Okay, you have a decision to make. You were sure you wanted to buy the same chair Jacksepticeye uses, but you didn’t realize the Embody was so expensive! As a Herman Miller chair, its high price is all but guaranteed. Does that mean you should buy this chair?

The price is definitely the biggest detriment, and I won’t gloss over it because it’s significant. It’d be one thing if we were talking about a $500 gaming chair here, but the Embody is about twice that. You can also tack on yet more money by changing out the caster wheels. 

That’s the only additional charge though, and you don’t have to pay for shipping, so the price is pretty much a case of what you see is what you get.

For the money, Jacksepticeye’s chair does have a whole host of benefits. This task chair had a large team of medical professionals in all spheres working on it and it shows. The designers Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber strove to make a chair that’s healthful for you to sit in, and they truly achieved that goal with the Embody. 

From the Backfit natural spine included in the chair to its Pixelated Support that lends you a feeling of floating to the layers of seating material, no feature in the Embody is extraneous. Besides being comfy, this chair is appealing in about every way.

Plus, remember, the Embody is made for gamers. That’s not something you can say about other Herman Miller chairs. Oh, and I would be remiss not to mention that yes, this is indeed Jacksepticeye’s new preferred choice. That should be a pretty big reason to consider the Embody.  

Alternatives to Jacksepticeye’s Chair

All those perks are definitely incentivizing, but you can’t get over the price of the Embody. It’s okay, as the chair’s hefty price tag is a dealbreaker for a lot of people. That’s why I decided to dedicate this section to a few viable alternatives. These chairs are probably more up your alley. 

DXRacer Racing Series Gaming Chair

Before he made the jump to the Herman Miller brand, Jacksepticeye was a tried and true fan of DXRacer gaming chairs. The Racing Series chair for under $300 is a much more agreeable price, and technically you can still say you own Jacksepticeye’s chair (or his former chair, anyway).

There’s a lot to like about this DXRacer chair, from its two-inch PU caster wheels to its sturdy nylon base as well as the PU and mesh covering throughout. The backrest is wide and tall, and although it has no built-in spine, the seatback is flexible to spare yours.

3D adjustable armrests can be raised or lowered to keep your wrists and shoulders pain-free while you game for hours. Two support pillows–one at the back and one at the head–also promote great ergonomics.

You won’t even miss Herman Miller’s warranty all that much since DXRacer’s warranty protects its Racing Series gaming chair’s parts for 24 months. 

Steelcase Leap V2

If your gaming chair budget is slightly bigger but still not $16k big, the Steelcase Leap V2 is a nice in-between option. Available for under $900, the Leap includes a backrest that’s not only contoured for comfort but has LiveBack technology as well. Much like the Embody’s Backfit spine, the LiveBack will bend and move with your spine to cradle its natural contours. 

You can also set the firmness of the lower back of this chair via a control as well as the height of the lumbar support so your spine is nice and safe.

The armrests are designed to stay parallel whether you recline them or otherwise angle them, such as shifting side to side or back and forward as well as pivoting out or in and lifting the armrests down or up. 

The adjustments you make to the Leap are part of its Natural Glide patented adjustment system. The seamless gliding forward or backward of this chair never distracts your audience so you can record and even stream live videos all day.

Other features include polyester chair upholstery, a recline lock with five positions, recline tension, pneumatic height settings, chair depth settings, and five caster wheels. FYI, the casters are made for carpet only, not hard floors.

Another Herman Miller chair, you say? Yes, but the Aeron is about $1,000, so it’s not as expensive as the Embody. As I’ve talked about, the Aeron is the chair that put the Herman Miller brand on the map. It’s still featured in the Museum of Modern Art and was, back in 2010, considered the top-selling chair in the US.

The 8Z Pellicle Suspension fabric features tension zones throughout where the fabric is tauter. In the center of the chair where your back, neck, and shoulders recline, the fabric is looser. Besides the optimal support offered, 8Z Pellicle fabric is also very breathable.

PostureFit SL is a series of pads throughout the chair for stabilizing your spine, moving your pelvis a little forward, keeping your shoulders squared back, and opening your chest. This ideal posture may make your back less achy at the end of the day.

The arms of the Aeron are adjustable in every way, including the angle, depth, and height. You can also set the angle of the seat or tilt the chair. I must mention one of the Aeron’s most beloved features, and that’s how it comes in three sizes. Size A is small, Size B medium, and Size C large.
