GTRACING vs. DXRacer: Which Gaming Chair Brand Should You Choose?

DXRacer vs GTRACING

You have only a moderate budget for your next gaming chair, which has caused you to disqualify more expensive brands such as Secretlab. Instead, you’re considering either GTRACING or DXRacer. Which produces the best gaming chairs?

DXRacer has better gaming chairs than GTRACING. Between the two, DXRacer is the original gaming chair brand, and its chairs are more premium with the superior build quality. GTRACING doesn’t hide that it copies DXRacer, but the brand has a reduced build quality that can cause its chairs to fall apart faster.

Since you’re the one who will use your gaming chair, I want you to be pleased with your choice. That’s why in this extensive guide, I’ll talk more about the DXRacer and GTRACING gaming chair brands, explore the differences, and delve into the pros and cons of both chair manufacturers.

By the time you’re done reading, you’ll know whether a GTRACING or DXRacer gaming chair is the right pick for you!

First, I want to talk about the history of DXRacer. As I established in the intro, between them and GTRACING, DXRacer is the original.

Created in 2001, the DXRacer brand specializes in gaming chairs. According to their website, DXRacer produced “the world’s first modular gaming chair.” Their innovations in gaming chair design have led to the manufacturer winning awards and sponsorship deals with some of the most noteworthy esports leagues.

The company promotes sustainability in producing its gaming chairs, which is important to the average consumer today. DXRacer has its own research and development facility in Michigan and manufacturing facilities that span the globe.

DXRacer produces an expansive range of gaming chair series, including the Legacy Series, the Prince Series, the Gladiator Series, the King Series, the Tank Series, and the DXRacer MASTER.

The company also manufactures gear and gaming chair accessories such as pillow sets, mechanisms, replacement armrests, casters, cylinders, and bases.

Let’s take a closer look at each of DXRacer’s gaming chair series now.

Legacy Series

DXRacer Racing Series
$329.99

DXRacer is one of the most popular gaming chair brands out there. It offers adjustable armrests, tilt-rocking capability, angular backrest adjustment, and Height adjustment.

Buy on DXRacer

The most classic DXRacer chairs are in the Legacy Series. These gaming chairs feature mesh panels for breathability, PU leather details, and fun accent colors in combos like red and black or blue and black.

With Class 4 hydraulics, you can raise and lower the height of the chair. A lever lets you adjust the conventional tilt. The two-inch polyurethane and nylon caster wheels can roll a smooth 360 degrees.

Prince Series

For the gamer who needs even more comfort, the gaming chairs in DXRacer’s Prince Series are wider, plusher, and have detachable head and back pillows. The backrest tilts between 90 and 135 degrees and the PU casters are non-scratching.

The faux leather exterior of the DXRacer Prince Series chairs feels great. Underneath that is high-density foam cushioning. You might also like the DXRacer logo stitched into the headrest and the sporty accent colors in hues like white or red.

Gladiator Series

One of the best offerings from DXRacer, the Gladiator Series chairs are designed for lumbar support. You again have removable lumbar and neck pillows as well as additional lumbar features for awesome ergonomics.

4D armrests move like few DXRacer chairs have in the past, as you can rotate the arms inward or outward, up and down, left and right, or forward or backward.

Tilt the chair up to 135 degrees. The tilt mechanism is a huge step up, as you can now lock your tilt angle and set the height using the lever.

Real leather in hues like all black or black with white or red look sporty and will surely impress your streaming audience.

King Series

Proving its inclusiveness, the DXRacer King Series is wider than ever. The company increased the backrest and seat base by a whopping 15 percent.

These larger chairs don’t skimp on any of the other features that have made DXRacer a household name among gamers. Included with the chair are a faux leather exterior, high-density foam, 4D armrests, tilting (between 90 and 135 degrees), a multi-functional tilt mechanism with tilt lock, and scratch-free PU casters.

A cupholder on the side of the chair is quite handy. The mesh cushion in the seat comes out so you can clean it. Oh, and did I mention there’s a footrest too?

Tank Series

DXRacer Tank Series
$629.00

The DXRacer Tank Series is their highest-end gaming chair designed for heavy users. Its sturdy build quality can support up to 400lbs. If you're a big and tall individual, definitely check this out.

Buy on DXRacer

The wider, more durable Tank Series of gaming chairs from DXRacer have tall backs and wide seats for inclusivity. High-density foam padding is for comfort and ergonomics. DXRacer says that the PVC leather that coats the Tank Series chairs can even alleviate discomfort from pressure points.

Tilt the chair up to 120 degrees and maneuver the 4D armrests however your heart desires. Since the Tank Series chairs can support users weighing 400 pounds, DXRacer reinforced the tilt mechanism so it’s heavy-duty and sure to last.

DXRacer MASTER

DXRacer MASTER DM1200
$499.00

The DXRacer MASTER DM1200 is a top-of-the-line gaming chair that features an innovative modular design, allowing you to pick and choose certain features that best meet your specific needs.

The DXRacer MASTER Series is built for hours of use at a time and even includes office workers as well as professional gamers among its audience. This slightly higher-cost chair is not like most from DXRacer.

For one, it’s single-colored. The leather is real microfiber leather, not PU. This premium-grade leather feels great on your body all day. Its tensile strength and resistance to damage is another reason DXRacer outfits the MASTER Series chairs in microfiber leather.

The rail-mounted headrest features a foam pillow that slides to cradle your head just as you like it. The customizable headrest also ensures that your head and neck remain supported.

The included spinal support includes a rotary dial mounted to the side that you can tweak and tinker with until you’re pleased. The range of tilting is greater than in any other DXRacer chair, as now you can lean back 155 degrees. The synchronic tilt mechanism is lockable too.

The aluminum base and metal 4D arms are built for durability. A mesh cushion gives you more breathability and airflow where you need it.

Next is GTRACING, which was founded in 2005, a whole four years after DXRacer was already producing and selling its brand of gaming chairs. As I said in the intro, GTRACING’s founding seems to be directly inspired by DXRacer.

GTRACING copies DXRacer, and this isn’t something the company tries to make a secret out of. Like DXRacer, GTRACING sells a variety of accessories for its gaming chairs. Also like DXRacer, GTRACING has several gaming chair series. They are the Pro Series, the Footrest Series, the Music Series, and the Ace Series.

Let’s delve deeper into these GTRACING chairs.

Pro Series

GTRACING Gaming Chair
$139.99

The GTRacing gaming chair offers everything you would expect from a high-end racing style gaming chair at less than half the price of the other premier brands.

The Pro Series includes nine chairs. The style of the chairs runs the gamut. Some models are very close copies of DXRacer chairs complete with an emblazoned headrest, PU leather exteriors, accent colors in blue or red, and removable lumbar and head pillows.

Other designs in the Pro Series are more original. One chair is even covered in fabric rather than faux leather.

Footrest Series

GTRACING Pro Series with Footrest

The GTRACING gaming chair is one of the few racing style gaming chairs under $200 that you'll find with a footrest. It's an excellent bang for your buck offering solid build quality, comfort, and features.

Buy on Amazon

The Footrest Series of GTRACING chairs is named such due to the inclusion of–you guessed it–footrests. As cool as that is, there’s more that these chairs have to offer. Class 4 hydraulics let you lift the chair’s height. You can tilt between 90 and 150 degrees, and the chair rocks as well.

Padding abounds, including the detachable lumbar support pillow, the headrest, and the thick seat. Underneath the padding is a metal frame for better posture.

Some of the gaming chairs in GTRACING’s Footrest Series even have speakers.

Music Series

GTRACING Music Series with Bluetooth Speakers

The GTRACING gaming chair features a classic racing style design with Bluetooth speakers that allow for a more immersive gaming experience.

Buy on Amazon

If you like your chairs more on the musical side, then check out the Music Series, which is the third series of gaming chairs available from GTRACING. Each chair has speakers embedded into the headrest on either side.

The speakers are compatible with Bluetooth and boast surround-system quality. You can hook up your tablet, your headphones, your smartphone, or any device that uses Bluetooth to make the most of the Music Series gaming chairs. The speakers last for six hours at a time.

Besides the music feature, these GTRACING chairs feature 3D arms, rocking, a PU-leather exterior, locking recline, and a high-density spongy cushion. The chair can support up to 200 pounds.

Ace Series

GTRACING ACE Series L3

The GTRACING ACE Series L3 is essentially a budget clone of the Secretlab Titan offering similar features, such as an open seat design and built-in lumbar support at nearly half the price.

GTRACING’s Ace Series is one of the brand’s more luxe gaming chair options. Rather than sponge foam, you get high-density cold-cured foam.

The leather still isn’t real, but it’s premium PU leather, so it’s about as close to the real deal as you can get. Built for standing up to regular wear without ripping, the faux leather looks and feels good.

The Ace Series chairs are GTRACING’s first step into the world of 4D armrests. Other adjustments include a 360-degree swivel, seat height, tilting between 90 and 170 degrees, and tilt locking.

DXRacer vs GTRACING: What’s the Difference?

Now that you’ve been thoroughly introduced to the DXRacer and GTRACING brands alike, I want to examine the differences between these two gaming chair manufacturers. Despite how much GTRACING attempts to be like DXRacer, there are areas that are incomparable.

GTRACING

GTRACING makes high-quality gaming chairs at an affordable price. They offer a wide variety of racing style gaming chairs that are on par with some of the major brand names at a fraction of the price.

Brand Reputation

As mid-priced gaming chairs, neither DXRacer nor GTRACING is necessarily at the top of the pile of the best gaming chairs. However, from what I could gather, the reputation of both companies is solid.

Using Amazon as a litmus test, DXRacer and GTRACING alike both earn four stars or four and a half stars for their various chairs.

For the GTRACING faux leather chair in the Pro Series, some Amazon users mention that the chair reduced their pain. Others state that the chair’s weight capacity is awesome.

One of the one-star reviews for the GTRACING Pro Series chair said that after three months, the chair began falling apart. When they posted a review, they received an email requesting them to take down the review. Although the email wasn’t confirmed to come from GTRACING, it does seem strange.

Amazon users laud the comfort of DXRacer chairs and its awesome features. Complaints include issues with the hydraulic cylinders and poor customer service.

Number of Models Offered

Across all four of its series, GTRACING offers 47 gaming chairs. The Pro Series has nine chairs, the Footrest Series has seven, the Music Series has five chairs, and the Ace Series has only three models.

DXRacer has a smaller collection of gaming chairs available. The Legacy Series includes 16 chairs, the Prince Series has three, the Gladiator Series has four, the King Series has five, the Tank Series has two models, and the DXRacer MASTER Series has three chairs.

That’s 33 versus 47, which is a difference of 14 chairs in the favor of GTRACING.

Materials and Build Quality

The build quality of GTRACING is only okay compared to DXRacer. Since the former’s chairs cost at least half as much as the latter’s, it makes sense that GTRACING would have to sacrifice somewhere. It appears that build quality is that area.

Lower costs are usually indicative of a poorer quality chair, and in this instance, it applies. The drop in build quality means that, while you’re getting a deal on your GTRACING chair, that you’ll have to replace it quicker.

As you’ll recall, one Amazon reviewer said that it only took three months for their GTRACING chair to begin having issues. That’s not to say that will happen to your chair if you choose GTRACING, but it could!

The reason that GTRACING can’t compare to DXRacer in build quality has to do with a difference in quality materials. DXRacer uses high-density foam in many of its gaming chairs whereas for GTRACING, it’s sponge foam. That type of foam is cheaper and not as dense, making it less comfortable.

GTRACING mentions that its chairs have a metal skeleton while not elaborating much beyond that. DXRacer chairs use lightweight aluminum, at least for the DXRacer MASTER Series.

One area where these chairs are equal is the upholstery. Both brands rely mostly on PU leather since faux leather is much more economical than the real stuff. You can buy one series of DXRacer chairs with real leather; the same is true of GTRACING.

Both brands also use mesh sparingly. A handful of DXRacer chairs feature mesh seats. The only fully mesh chair from DXRacer is technically an office chair, so I’m not talking about it further here (the DXRacer AIR).

Comfort

Although comfort is somewhat subjective, what’s less so is that the lower the build quality and the poorer the materials of a chair, the less comfortable it will be.

Some users will find GTRACING chairs very comfortable, but if they tried a higher-quality chair, they might soon change their mind.

Unless you spring for the GTRACING Ace Series, then the greatest level of ergonomics you get in most GTRACING chairs are detachable lumbar and neck pillows and recline. That’s not to say that DXRacer has many more ergonomic features.

However, since DXRacer uses premium materials, that makes up for the baseline ergonomics. Sitting in a DXRacer chair should make for a more comfortable experience.

I will give GTRACING credit for their wider chairs, but DXRacer has those too. If you’re a bigger user, then squeezing yourself into a teeny-tiny gaming chair isn’t going to be very comfortable. The width of some GTRACING and DXRacer chairs would make them more cozy.

Adjustability

In the area of chair adjustments, it would seem like GTRACING and DXRacer are almost on equal footing. After all, both brands utilize Class 4 hydraulic lifts. You can raise and lower your seat, recline (to about the same angle too), and tilt.

GTRACING chair have recline locking more frequently than DXRacer, but the feature is not completely absent in the latter brand. Rocking is a feature that GTRACING chairs utilize a lot more.

However, most chair series from GTRACING except the Ace have 3D armrests. This is both surprising and it isn’t.

It’s surprising since 4D arms are becoming the standard in gaming chairs and GTRACING is pushing itself as an authentic gaming chair brand. Yet it’s not surprising since GTRACING tries to keep its production low-cost. It’s more expensive to manufacture armrests with a higher degree of flexibility like 4D arms have.

Aesthetics

As I mentioned earlier, DXRacer came along first and popularized the aesthetics of racing chairs with a black PU leather base and fancy racing stripes or accent panels in bright colors. GTRACING capitalized on the trend, but the company didn’t innovate.

When GTRACING focuses more on its own designs rather than trying to copy DXRacer, the company has some nice-looking chairs. Look no further than the Ace Series or the Pro Series to see what I mean.

DXRacer has its proven formula, and it doesn’t deviate from that a whole lot from one chair series to another. The DXRacer MASTER Series is a nice departure, as these gaming chairs look more like something you’d see at an office. They’re DXRacer designs but all grown up.

Price

If you want to get your hands on a gaming chair for under $200, or even for less than $250, look no further than GTRACING. Once you get into the chairs with Bluetooth and speakers like those in the Music Series, it’s understandable that GTRACING’s gaming chairs are costlier. Even still, you’re paying barely over $200.

In the DXRacer Legacy Series, the average chair price is $330. You’ll spend about $260 for a chair in the Prince Series, $400 for a chair in the Gladiator Series, and $500 for a chair in the King Series. The Tank Series chairs cost $630.

DXRacer vs GTRACING: Which Is Better?

Our Winner

Now that I’ve shone a spotlight on the various features of both DXRacer and GTRACING gaming chairs, it’s time to pick a winner. Which brand is better?

As I did in the intro, I have to give it to DXRacer. This is far from the most premium gaming chair brand out there, but DXRacer chairs do have high-quality features. These include high-density foam, 4D armrests, smooth casters, and Class 4 hydraulics.

The build quality is good for what you’re paying so your gaming chair won’t fall apart a few months from now. Yes, the prices for a DXRacer gaming chair are higher than GTRACING’s, but compared to other gaming chairs, those costs are reasonable.

Paying about $500 ensures that you get a high-quality gaming chair. You can always shell out more money if you want the best of the best in quality, but it’s not necessary. DXRacer falls right into the $500 sweet spot.

Could DXRacer be better? Sure. It’d be nice to see more chairs with authentic leather rather than fake PU stuff. Mesh panels throughout would augment the breathability of the chair, which is important for gamers, as breathability reduces chair stench. Neither PU leather nor authentic leather are particularly breathable, after all.

I also wouldn’t mind DXRacer moving away from its racing stripe decorative theme, at least for a few chairs in the series. That all the chairs except for the MASTER Series are variations on one look will appeal to a certain subset of gamers, but not those who want something more understated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you still have a few more questions about DXRacer and GTRACING gaming chairs? No problem, as I’m here to answer them.

Is GTRACING a Good Brand?

GTRACING, having been founded in 2005, has a history that dates back more than 15 years. The longevity of the company wouldn’t be nearly as much if their chairs were awful.

It’s like I said earlier, GTRACING is upfront about copying DXRacer. The company could afford to copy DXRacer more and add 4D arms as the standard for its gaming chairs moving forward, but time will tell whether that happens.

For gaming chairs under $150, GTRACING is a fine brand. Once your chair budget increases to around $300 or $500 though, you might not buy another GTRACING chair again.

Is DXRacer the Same as GTRACING?

Nope! DXRacer and GTRACING are competitors with no affiliation to one another. GTRACING came about as a reaction to DXRacer (so to speak). As I’ve established, GTRACING lifts many gaming chair concepts from DXRacer, but the two are separate brands.

Is DXRacer Worth It?

If your budget is big enough that you can afford a $300 gaming chair, then yes, I would say DXRacer is worth it. The build quality is such that if you take good care of the chair, you could expect to get several years out of it.

With the money you save, you can funnel that towards a new gaming console, the next hot game, a gaming computer, or video-editing software.

Once your budget is $500 and up though, you’re probably going to start looking at chairs like the Secretlab Evo 2022 or the Titan.

Conclusion

In the great battle of GTRACING versus DXRacer, it’s DXRacer that comes out on top. The higher build quality, premium materials, and 4D armrests stand head and shoulders above GTRACING.

I hope this article helps you find your next gaming chair!
