Here are some technical specs on the Quantum 9000.

Dimensions28 inches deep, 29 ½ inches wide, and 37 ½ to 43 ¾ inches tall
Product Weight59.7 pounds
MaterialPlastic, mesh, nylon, and metal
Weight Capacity275 pounds

Let’s now delve deeper into the multitude of features found in this office chair.

Caster Wheels

Do you have a big corner office and you like to be able to roll from one area to another? Perhaps you intend to use the WorkPro Quantum 9000 at home and you have both carpets and hard flooring.

With its five sturdy caster wheels, you can move freely. The wheels are attached to the five-star metal base, which is covered in black plastic. The wheels are metal with nylon covers and can handle both carpet and hard flooring.

Gel Armrests

The armrests of the Quantum 9000 are quite impressive. They feature a layer of gel so sinking your arms onto the rests feels enjoyable. The shape of each armrest is also conducive to your comfort. There’s a reason that WorkPro says this chair is usable for eight to 10 hours at a time, and the armrests have a lot to do with it.

Although I’ll talk more about the Quantum 9000’s adjustments momentarily, I do want to mention here that this chair’s arms are fully adjustable. They even swivel. However, users have said the armrests don’t lock. Once you get them into place, you’ll have to watch that you don’t bump them out of position with your elbow or forearm.

Synchro-Tilt + Other Adjustments

The adjustable arms are but one part of how you can customize this WorkPro chair to fit you. With Synchro-Tilt, you can sit bolt upright, lean back slightly, or tilt way back and then lock the chair in any of those three positions.

Do you want to sit deeper in your chair? You can calibrate the seat depth. You can also set the height of the Quantum 9000 to more than 43 inches tall, with the available range of adjustment about 6 inches.

Ergonomics

The Quantum 9000, designed as an office chair for long-term use, has plenty of ergonomic features. The back of the chair features a convex shape that cradles more of your own back and might stave off aches and pains.

Included lumbar support will allow you to concentrate more on what you’re doing when you sit in the Quantum 9000, whether that’s working hard, playing video games, or even relaxing.

The tension control feature lets you set the tilt pressure of the back. You can also raise or lower the height of the backrest. If you’re a tall user who always feels too small for office chairs, increasing the backrest height will support more of your back. For short users who are overwhelmed by tall chairs, just bring the backrest height down.

Breathability

The entire seatback and the seat are covered in mesh. As I’ve written about, mesh is the best choice if you want a breathable office chair. The material allows air to travel in and out of the openings while sweat also exits before it accumulates.

Since sweat moves away from the chair, you have the benefit of staying cooler while also preventing your chair from getting stained and stinky.

If you do intensive work at the office or you stream video games for a large audience, then a mesh office chair will suit you well. That’s also true if you live in a warm climate, as you’ll be able to stay as cool as a cucumber.

However, for those who live in colder climes, all the air travel that mesh allows can leave you shivering.

Recyclability

You care greatly about our planet, as does the WorkPro Quantum 9000. That’s why they used 55 percent post-consumer recycled content to make the Quantum 9000. This is one green office chair (well, not literally; the Quantum 9000 is black).

Safer Production

WorkPro’s Quantum 9000 is certified through GREENGUARD for fewer chemical emissions. Although the chair isn’t chemical-free, it’s a lot safer for you to use than chairs without this certification.

Next, I want to provide some insights on the various aspects of the WorkPro Quantum 9000, including its quality, comfort, and value. This section should certainly guide you either more towards the Quantum 9000 or away from it.

Build Quality

The Quantum 9000 is a sturdy enough chair. It features a five-star base made of metal, although I couldn’t find out through my research whether that metal is steel or aluminum. Given the price of this office chair (which I’ll talk about in this section), I’m more inclined to say its base is aluminum.

That five-star base, as I said before, has a plastic coating atop it. All the adjustment knobs and pedals are the same combo of plastic and metal with maybe some nylon. The lumbar skeleton of this chair is plastic/nylon as well.

The mesh covering throughout the backrest and the seat looks comfortable and provides good breathability. When you compare it to a mesh office chair like the Herman Miller Aeron though–which it just so happens I will do later–the mesh of the Quantum 9000 doesn’t hold a candle.

However, the price difference between these two chairs is super steep, so for what you’re paying for the WorkPro chair, the mesh is fine.

Adjustability

The range of adjustments available to you in the Quantum 9000 is nothing short of impressive. I’ve seen costlier office chairs that don’t offer the same degree of adjustments as what you get in this one.

Here’s what I mean.

  • Height adjustment: You can adjust the height of the Quantum 9000 from 37 ½ inches to 43 ¾ inches tall, which is a difference of about 6 inches, as mentioned. This can accommodate shorter and taller users alike.
  • Backrest adjustment: Set the height of the backrest as well so its lumbar support is even more encompassing.
  • 4D adjustable armrests: The range of adjustments for the gel-coated armrests rivals some of the best office and gaming chairs on the market. If you’ve never used 4D armrests before, once you discover how you can swivel them and push them up, down, and out, you’ll never want to go back to 3D arms again!
  • Seat pan depth adjustment: You can even set the seat depth of the Quantum 9000, which is not a feature that’s all too common in office chairs.
  • Lumbar adjustment: The tension control is the lumbar adjustment in this office chair. You can increase or reduce the back tilt pressure to further enhance your comfort when using the Quantum 9000.

Comfort (Seat, Back, and Arms)

How comfortable is the Quantum 9000? For what it’s priced, I’d say it’s quite comfy. However, it could be better.

There’s not a lot of softness throughout this office chair. The seat is moderately padded, but with mesh. Since mesh can be scratchy, especially against bare skin, you’re not getting an optimally comfy sitting experience. I don’t know about you, but I’d prefer to sit on a softer seat than one that’s made of mesh.

As I had talked about before, the seatback is supported by plastic or nylon framework, neither of which will feel super great on your back, especially after a few hours.

The ergonomic features, as plentiful are they are, are only basic, so adding uncomfortable features on top of that doesn’t really help matters. The arms though are one of the best features for comfort since you can raise, lower, or pivot them out of the way.

Value

The WorkPro Quantum 9000 costs about $350, which puts its price at mid-range. It’s not a cheap $99 office chair, nor would you want it to be, but it’s not an astronomically expensive Herman Miller either. It’s not even a $700 Steelcase, which again, is a good thing.

So yes, while the Quantum 9000 lacks in some areas, it’s inexpensive enough that it’s justified. If those areas that I highlighted really mean that much to you, then you could always budget for a slightly pricier office chair. Just know that not a lot of office chairs have highly adjustable armrests, especially within the price range of the Quantum 9000.

WorkPro Quantum 9000 Review: Policies and Additional Info

Here is some other handy info on the Quantum 9000 that will make your decision easier.

Shipping

How much the shipping costs for the Quantum 9000 depends on where you buy it. If you use the Amazon link I provided earlier, then you can possibly get free shipping for this office chair. Other retailers will charge you for shipping.

Assembly

This is something I touched on, but the Quantum 9000 does not come assembled. You’d either have to dedicate a few hours of your afternoon to the task or you can pay $50 extra if you buy the chair through Amazon for the assembly to be done for you.

Warranty

WorkPro proudly offers a limited lifetime warranty on the Quantum 9000 and its parts.

WorkPro Quantum 9000 Alternatives

To wrap up, I want to compare the WorkPro Quantum 9000 to three other popular office chairs like it. These are the WorkPro Quantum 12000, the Herman Miller Aeron, and the Staples Hyken. This section should help cement your decision about buying the Quantum 9000.

From one WorkPro chair to another, the Quantum 12000 is a mid-back manager’s chair that’s built for everyday use. If you weren’t so thrilled with some of the design flaws of the Quantum 9000, the Quantum 12000 improves upon a lot of them.

For one, it has a much more padded, plusher seat than the Quantum 9000, which is good considering that the Quantum 12000 is still completely covered in mesh. Rather than plastic, the frame is nylon. The five-star base is also entirely aluminum rather than plastic and aluminum.

The caster wheels are lacking compared to the Quantum 9000, and I also don’t like the seatback as much. It’s not one piece, so the seams between the backrest could be uncomfortable if you sit straight back against the chair.

A lot of the features between the Quantum 9000 and the Quantum 12000 are the same, such as the adjustable armrests, the tilting backrest with tilt locking, and the seat height adjustments. Even the weight limit is the same between both chairs.

The Quantum 12000 is more than $400, so the prices aren’t too different either. In all, I’d say the Quantum 9000 is the better chair.

WorkPro Quantum 9000 vs. Herman Miller Aeron

The Herman Miller Aeron is one of the most prized chairs in history. With a permanent slot at the MoMA, this chair was a marvel when it was unveiled in the mid-1990s, and it continues to inspire today.

It too is a mesh office chair, but the Aeron uses Herman Miller’s 8Z Pellicle mesh. Unlike the mesh of the Quantum 9000, Pellicle mesh is tauter in some areas than others to create a greater degree of back support.

Speaking of back support, the Aeron also boasts a PostureFit SL backrest. You can adjust either side of this backrest for customized lumbar support. With Harmonic Tilt, you can easily and naturally tilt the Aeron without feeling off-balance.

The armrests are not quite 4D, but you can set their angle, depth, and height. Although you can’t raise the backrest height of the Aeron like you can with the Quantum 9000, this chair comes in three sizes for a variety of users.

However, the Aeron is $1,395, which is over $1,000 more than what the Quantum 9000 costs. That will be out of the price range for many, and that’s quite fair!

WorkPro Quantum 9000 vs. Staples Hyken

The Staples Hyken is a budget mesh ergonomic chair that offers solid build quality, adjustability, and comfort at an entry-level price.

The Staples Hyken task chair is a bit of a fairer contender for the Quantum 9000 than the Herman Miller Aeron is. This is another mid-priced chair that’s mesh. Like the Quantum 9000, the seat of the Hyken is lightly padded and could be more comfortable.

The Hyken has a headrest, which the Quantum 9000 does not, and the Hyken’s headrest is mesh as well. Yet its armrests are kind of basic. They’re also lacking a gel coating like the Quantum 9000’s arms and they can’t move with the same degree of flexibility.

You’re also without quite as many adjustments as the Quantum 9000, so we’re declaring this chair the winner against the Hyken, even if it costs about $200 more.

The Bottom Line

The WorkPro Quantum 9000 is a $350 mesh office chair with flexible armrests, carpet and flooring casters, and some lumbar support. For its price, this is a great office chair that you can use to breathe easy during work and at home!
